Knysna Elephant Park

The largest African elephant weighed 9 tons and was 12 feet at his shoulder. Gestation is about 23 months.
Elephants reach puberty at 13-14 yrs. They are very loving.  If a baby elephant complains, the entire family will come and touch and caress the baby.

Their life expectancy is about 70 years.

The trunk has 100,000 muscles in it and is very strong. Sometimes the elephant will rest itself on its trunk.

The African elephant has enormous ears.

Elephants wrap their trunk around the grass to eat it. They don't drink with their trunks, but fill their trunks with water and then use it as a hose to pour the water in their mouth.
